Initial Requirements to Pledge with Alpha Kappa Psi
For 100 years our fraternity has strived to create the business leaders based on our founding principles. It is with great pride that each of our brothers hold our values and success with them each and every day. Pledging is something granted to those that our brothers give to those who we feel meet the criteria stated below and also the standards that our founding fathers have placed on us. The following are described as minimum requirements for anyone that is interested in pledging with our chapter:
- Must be a full-time student
- Must be a business major, or have a strong interest in business
- Must have a minimum of two semesters left before graduation
- Attend Interviews scheduled for (TBA). The time and room will be announced soon.
If you meet these minimum criteria, you are invited and encouraged to "Rush" with AKPsi. The steps to rushing with AKPsi are highlighted below:
- Fill out and submit your RUSH interest page below! One of our members will be in contact with you shortly about upcoming events and the opportunity to meet our members.
- Attend our RUSH events listed below
- Stop by one of our information booths in the hallway conjoining the student union and Lubar Hall
Rush Events
Our RUSH events are strongly recommended. At the RUSH events you will get a chance to meet with our brothers and learn more about our fraternity as well as let our brothers get to know you in a relaxed atmosphere! Please remember that it is up to the brothers of our chapter to determine who receives a bid (invitation to rush), therefore the more events that you attend, the more brothers will get to know you and will be able to see the strengths and attributes you possess!
Dates, times, and location are noted below:

The Pledge Program and its Purpose
The pledge program is designed to familiarize each pledge with the brothers and the traditions of our fraternity and our chapter. The program will introduce you to the 100+ years of history, and you will learn to work together with your fellow pledge class to develop the professional skills and culture necessary to be accepted as a brother into Alpha Kappa Psi. It is here where you will first begin to establish relationships with your fellow pledges, active members, and alumni alike.
Pledge Responsibilities
There is a pledge induction fee of $44 due at the beginning of the pledge process. Upon initiation as a member into the fraternity near the end of the semester, there is an initiation fee of $66. Aside from the financial obligation, pledges will be expected to carry themselves with respect, dignity, and integrity that our fraternity requires of its members. Remember, at all times that your actions will reflect upon the credibility of our chapter and fraternity as a whole.
Time Commitment
As a pledge of the Spring 2010 Pledge class, you will be expected to attend meetings every Sunday evening at 5:00 PM. You will also be expected to attend Midcourt and Court of Honor. As a pledge you are expected to devote your time to the following activities:
- Community Service: Each pledge is required to participate in a community service event that the pledge class agrees upon.
- Professional Event: Each pledge class is required to also have a professional speaker of their choice come in and speak to our brotherhood and pledge class.
- Fundraising: The pledge class will have some financial obligations in order to meet the expense of the events. In the past, fundraising has been comprised of bake sales, garage sales, local business fundraising opportunities, etc.
- Social Event: It is up to each pledge class to also plan a social for our alumni and brothers to all meet together and celebrate our brotherhood.
- Additional Time: You may also have meetings with your big brother, but that will be determined by you and your mentor. You will also have to create a pledge paddle which will represent you, your big brother, and the fraternity.
